Program Models at Topsail Addiction Treatment
Topsail Addiction Treatment offers three levels of outpatient addiction treatment at our facility in Andover, Massachusetts. Our team of addiction treatment professionals works with each patient to find the right treatment model for you. Programs are customized to each individual patient because no single treatment is right for everyone. Our treatment programs include the following models:
Full-Day Treatment/Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our full-day treatment program, also known as a partial hospitalization program, is the highest level of addiction treatment provided in an outpatient setting. The full-day program at Topsail Addiction Treatment is designed for patients with serious substance use disorders who need intensive treatment, but prefer to live at home instead of at an inpatient or residential treatment facility. During full-day treatment, patients spend five days per week at our facility in Andover, Massachusetts attending treatment sessions. Treatment sessions total 5-6 hours per day. At the end of the day, patients are able to return home and continue their normal activities. Our full-day program is well suited for individuals who are starting their treatment journey, or as a transition for those who have recently completed an inpatient addiction treatment program.
Half-Day Treatment/Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our half-day treatment program, also called an intensive outpatient program (IOP), is considered a step down from our full-day treatment program. It requires less time for treatment per day or week than a partial hospitalization program, enabling patients to balance recovery with their everyday lives. During treatment, patients can continue to work, attend school, or fulfill family obligations. Patients usually need to attend about 10 hours of treatment per week. Treatment sessions may consist of individual therapy, group counseling, classes and workshops and case management. Patients can receive treatment services during the day, before or after work or school, in the evening and/or on weekends, making treatment accessible to people with busy lives. Intensive outpatient treatment programs are often recommended for individuals who do not need medically managed detoxification or daily, supervised treatment for substance use disorders.
Weekly Treatment/Outpatient Program (OP)
Our weekly treatment program, sometimes called general outpatient treatment, is the most flexible addiction treatment program offered at Topsail Addiction Treatment. It is designed to provide alcohol and drug treatment services to help people in recovery at times that are convenient to their daily lives. Compared with an intensive outpatient program, general outpatient care is less structured and requires fewer hours spent in treatment weekly. It usually requires patients to participate in about one hour of treatment each week. Individuals on the path to recovery can schedule sessions at various times throughout the week. This schedule allows patients to continue meeting daily responsibilities such as work, school or family obligations. Our weekly treatment program offers an array of services, but typically requires individual therapy or group therapy sessions. It is common for patients who have completed a full-day or half-day treatment program to transition to weekly treatment sessions to continue recovery.
